We are currently seeking a multi-craft Maintenance Technician who will be responsible for ensuring optimum operation of manufacturing and facilities equipment by repairing and maintaining various items such as motors, gearboxes, pneumatic components, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems and thermal systems. Maintenance works on 12-hour (6AM-6PM and 6PM-6AM) rotating shifts. Starting pay of $34.29-$38.22/hour with $1.52/hour shift premium while working nights.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform PM's, troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions and locate sources of problems through interaction with production employees, equipment observation as well as referencing blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications. Interface with all available Engineering sources as well as any other available resources.
- Rebuild, repair, or replace defective or malfunctioning equipment, components and parts using necessary hand tools, power tools, specialty tools and equipment.
- Adjust functional equipment, components and parts through the use of standard and non-standard hand tools as well as any necessary specialty tools and equipment.
- Minimize production line downtime by supporting production employees in their efforts to complete scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Fabricate parts utilizing machine shop equipment and instrumentation when necessary.
- Check items used for equipment repairs and maintenance out of spare parts storeroom inventory.
- Anticipate future needs for spare parts, supplies and components and communicating to purchasing department.
- Provide general information on maintenance activities to other maintenance staff, production employees, supervisors and administrative staff.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending necessary training, educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and establishing and maintaining professional relationships in the maintenance field.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Act as a resource for production/manufacturing employees engaged in maintenance activities.
- Provide assistance in identifying, obtaining, staging and documenting materials, parts, special tools and equipment needed to do preventative mechanical maintenance work and/or repairs on production equipment and plant facilities.
- Participate in and support continuous improvement efforts, working with and alongside production/manufacturing employees in the process.
- Ensure that all safety, health and environmental concerns are considered when doing work and interfacing with EHS to complete documentation of safe work as necessary.
- Ensure that corporate and plant quality policies and procedures (such as but not limited to SQF, GMP, and chemical control) are followed in the performance of job duties and responsibilities.
- Travel (periodically) to receive work related training, meet with vendors, buyoff equipment, visit other Crown facilities, etc.
- Provide on-call response to remedy critical maintenance situations.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work rotating 12 hour shifts
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years' maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of and basic troubleshooting skills associated with: Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Thermal, Kinetic and Potential Energy systems.
- Reading and math skills are required along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications.
- Basic technical, computer, and analytical skills (from educational background and/or work experience).
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Basic working knowledge of computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
- Familiarity and minimal proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills.
- Ability to engage with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Must be willing to participate and pass a Mechanical Skills Test Device assessment.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must be able to work up to twelve (12) hours shifts, both day and evening.
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
